About
Three of us, and a golf day nobody could watch.
CourseSide started with an observation from a PGA Professional who has run and played these days for years: the amateur golf day has a start and a finish and nothing in between, and even the well-run ones are being sold a scorecard app. We are a Stockport company that built the alternative, and turns up to run it.
Why this exists
Nobody sells the middle of a golf day, because until you can see where people are there is no middle to sell.
We just do the tech. And we do all of it.
Not a scoring app, and not an events company either. Every player on a live map in the clubhouse, every score as it lands, every partner's hole in front of the room, a report that follows every player home. Whoever runs your day, we bring that part, and the people who run it.A hundred and twenty people disappear into a hundred and fifty acres for five hours. The organiser, who spent months selling the day, spends the middle of it doing admin. The clubhouse has a bar and a car park.
Every product in this market sells the end of the day better: faster results, no maths, a scorecard by email. We built the middle, because software the organiser has to operate is just more admin, and a day nobody can watch is just a round of golf.
We are not putting on your golf day. There are good companies who do that, and we work alongside them: they run the day, we run the live layer of it. The tracking, the screen, the app, the report, and our people on the day to make it work.
We are
- There on the day, with our kit and our people
- The reason the room has something to watch
- Just the tech, and all of it: tracking, screen, app, report, and our people
- Built by people who run these days
- Certain about what a golf day should be
We are not
- Something the organiser has to learn and operate
- The reason the results come out faster, and nothing else
- A tech company that found golf
- An events company. There are good ones, and we partner with them
- Software you are left to run yourself
The founders
Three owners, one idea of what a golf day should be.
Graham brought the idea and the market. Jamie brought the product. Liam brought the platform. Between us: years of running these days, years of building software people rely on, and one shared conviction that the middle of a golf day deserves better.
PGA Professional · The idea
Graham Drabble
CourseSide is Graham's concept. A PGA Professional attached to two clubs, with Romiley Golf Club as home, he has run and played these days for years and saw what nobody was selling: the four hours in the middle. He set the standard the product has to meet, and he is the one who will stand in your clubhouse and put his name to it.
Product · The day, designed
Jamie McMullan
Jamie is a golfer who has spent his career turning ideas into software products and leading the teams that build them. He gave Graham's idea its shape: the broadcast, the app, the Control Centre and the report, and the case the three of us make for it.
Engineering · The platform
Liam Bateman
Liam has never played a round of golf, which is exactly the point: he sees the day as a system. He builds the platform behind the screens and the part nobody sees, the trackers, the receiver network that gets around a course with no signal, and the scoring engine that does the handicaps so nobody at the bar has to.
We are not three people doing a job. We are three owners with a view of what a golf day should be, building exactly that, and standing in front of it on the day.
The 2027 season
Almost there.
Building now, piloting this winter, out on the course in spring. Every screen of the day is designed and signed off; the platform is being built behind them.
The build
The trackers, the receiver network, the scoring engine and the broadcast, built to the designs on this site. Dates for 2027 are being held now.
The pilot at Romiley
Real players and a real room at Graham's home club. Not to find out whether it works: to run it until it is boringly reliable, and to photograph a clubhouse watching a golf day.
The first days go out
Charity and corporate days first, with our people at every one and spare kit in the car. The first season, run like a tenth.
Where we work
Based in Stockport. North West first.
Cheshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and everywhere within a morning's drive of Stockport come first, because that is where we can be in the room with spare kit. Further afield is a conversation, not a no: tell us where the day is.
Got a day in the diary for next season?
We are taking bookings for 2027 now. Tell us the date and the venue and we will tell you exactly what your day would look like.
A PGA Professional, a golfer who builds software, and one who has never played a round in his life. Meet the three of us.
